Who I Am

Professionally, it is my passion to serve those who are looking to heal so that they can live their life fully. I work with adult women with symptoms of depression, anxiety and women's issues.

Personally, I am a wife and mommy to an amazing boy and two fur babies (one who is scared of everything and one who is scared of nothing. They make for a great duo). I have many hobbies including crafting, traveling to anywhere on or near a beach, and spending time with family and loved ones.

What I Do

Women's Health

Society often perceives the family building journey as one that is done with ease, but we know while this may be true for some, it is not true for all. Many women's reproductive journey can have impacts on their mental health and foster symptoms of anxiety and depression. I focus on women's issues related to Maternal and Reproductive Mental Health. My areas of specialty include Prenatal/ Post-Partum Depression, Prenatal/Post-Partum Anxiety, Traumatic Birth, Miscarriage, Infertility, and any point where your family building journey has gone awry.

Adult Children of Parents with Diagnosed/Undiagnosed Mental Health Concerns

Parents who have experienced their own trauma, while well intentioned may be parenting in ways which have many impacts on an adult child's life. These behaviors can affect areas including difficulty with trust, self-esteem, power, control, relationships, intimacy, feelings of safety, support symptoms of co-dependency and can leave the adult child feeling manipulated . I work diligently assessing how you have been impacted and help you address these areas to live a more independent and confident life while working towards a healthier relationship with your parent.

Grief

Grief for adults and children can come in various forms. Examples may include the loss of a loved one, recent medical diagnosis, or change in expectation for yourself/family member. My approach is culturally and religiously sensitive in addressing your specific loss. Together we will help address thoughts and emotions related to these changes and help establish ways to help you cope while honoring what brought on your grief symptoms.

Trauma, Big or Small

Significant life events can create difficulty for us within our lives causing us to become stuck. This can start symptoms of being easily startled, having difficulty feeling safe, difficulty with trusting yourself and others, increase in negative self talk, lower self-esteem, unhealthy habits in relationships, and under or over exerting your control. By using cutting edge evidenced based approaches, I will assist you in helping you decrease the symptoms which are causing you to feel stuck and helping you get back to living the life you want!

How I Do It

I am committed to establishing a trusting therapeutic relationship by creating a safe and non-judgmental environment. This will allow us to address those difficulties which might be impacting your functioning. I take a person-centered approach and provide each individual with education about effective treatment to reach their desired goals. Together we can decide which treatment path will provide the most effective outcome for you to begin your journey to creating healthy change. It's my philosophy that counseling does not always have to be a somber experience. In my therapeutic approach, I often like to interject humor as I feel that laughing can have a powerful effect on healing. I will be your cheerleader to pursuing change. It is my goal to work myself out of a job, so you can become successful in addressing symptoms and function the way you desire! If you choose to pursue counseling, I look forward to walking with you on your path to wellness!

I was extremely nervous for my first appointment, but Sarah put me at ease; she was just as kind in person as she looked in her photo.

Sarah was a light for me when I was feeling lost. In about four months, she helped me work through so much that had led me to that point of searching for a therapist. She gave me the tools I needed to deal with every day life and the events of my past. She taught me how to identify negative thoughts and turn them into self-affirming ones.
